1UpFam — Delete Your Account
Last updated: September 26, 2026
This page explains how to delete your 1UpFam account and what happens to your data
when you do. It exists so that the option is reachable without the app, as Google Play
requires.
Current release status: New paid-plan signup is disabled. Existing
purchase status can still be checked for restoration and account management. Account
deletion does not cancel an existing Apple or Google subscription.
The quickest way: in the app
You do not have to ask anyone. Once the app confirms that your deletion request was accepted,
cleanup continues automatically, even if you close the app.
- Open 1UpFam.
- Tap Profile at the bottom of the screen.
- Open Settings, then tap Delete My Account.
- Read the deletion details, then confirm once. The screen explains what is removed and what stays.
-
Sign in with Apple or Google once more, using the same provider as the account. This
confirms it is really you and is required before an account can be deleted.
If you have a store subscription: Cancel it before deleting your 1UpFam
account because account deletion does not cancel recurring Apple or Google billing. Use
Profile → Settings → Manage store subscriptions, or your store's
subscription settings, to prevent another renewal.
If you are the Family Owner, transfer ownership first if the group should continue.
Deleting the Owner account without a handoff dissolves the family group and deletes its shared
family and household data for everyone. The app explains this in the deletion confirmation.
Wait for Deletion accepted before closing the app. Your active family card
and location are removed, and the server finishes the remaining cleanup automatically.
If the connection drops before acceptance is confirmed, reopen the account screen to check
the request or retry. Older unfinished requests can also be continued there.
If you cannot get into the app
Email mbwallace1390@gmail.com from the address
you signed in with, asking for your account to be deleted. We will action it within 30 days.
Sending it from the same address is what lets us confirm the request is yours — please do not
include a password, and we will never ask you for one.
What is deleted
- Your profile — name, email address, photo and push notification token.
- Your live location, and your battery level.
- The record of who looked you up.
- Your arrival and departure history for saved places.
- Your read receipts and any pending legacy location request.
- Your membership of your family group.
-
If you are the Family Owner and did not hand ownership to someone else first, the family
group and its shared family and household data are deleted for everyone.
-
If present, the app's private subscription link and your
RevenueCat customer record.
- Your sign-in account itself.
What is not deleted, and why
-
Apple or Google store transaction records and recurring billing.
The stores control those records and billing even while new paid-plan signup is
disabled. Cancel the subscription before deleting the
app account; deleting the account alone will not stop renewal.
-
For an ordinary member, the text of messages you sent to Everyone or Household
chat. Removing one person's
half of a conversation leaves everyone else's replies answering nothing, so the messages
stay and your name comes off them — they appear as from “Deleted member”. If the
deleting account is the Family Owner and the group is dissolved, the shared chat is deleted.
Photos you sent in chat are an exception and are deleted from our servers,
because a photograph identifies a person whether or not a name is attached to it. Copies
already saved or screenshotted on other people's phones are beyond our reach.
-
Records of you looking someone else up. Those sit on that person's list
rather than yours, and only they can see them. They are deleted automatically within 30
days.
-
For an ordinary member, events you added to the family calendar stay on the
calendar, since other people may be relying on them. They are deleted automatically a year
after they were added. A dissolved Owner's family calendar is deleted with the group.
How long it takes
Once accepted, your request is processed automatically in resumable steps. The time needed
depends on the amount of data and service availability; temporary failures are retried without
needing to keep the app open. Daily database recovery backups can retain a copy of
deleted data for up to seven days; deleted photo objects have a separate seven-day provider
soft-delete window. These copies are not available through the app. A recovery must reconcile
later deletions and sharing choices before any copied data returns to active use. Unsent chat
drafts on this phone are cleared during account cleanup.
